Dinner at Gobo

Last night, after seeing a movie at Film Forum, my parents and I met Dave for dinner at Gobo in the West Village. The Asian vegetarian eatery has been a long standing go-to for me and my parents. While I will be the first to admit that some of the food perhaps seems healthier than [...]

Brunch at Public

One of Dave’s Columbia classmates celebrated his birthday today with a brunch at Public in Nolita. We arrived and were shown to a beautiful private room. One look around the restaurant and it is no surprise that its designers (AvroKO) won the James Beard award for Best Restaurant Design.  Once seated, we tucked into an array [...]

Postcard from Dan

This postcard just arrived in the mail…   WHAT? Yes, I too did a double take when it arrived. Not only is this a postcard from Dan Barber, but it is actually handwritten. It is no doubt in response to the customer survey card I filled out at the end of my meal at Blue Hill [...]

My CSA begins

My CSA started this week. I am very excited. My share comes from Chubby Bunny farm in Connecticut. Above is what I picked up on Tuesday: (clockwise from leftmost bowl) salad greens, arugula, spinach, broccoli rabe, breakfast radishes, mint, strawberries, Mutsu apples. Breakfast by Dave

Boys, when left to their own devices, will eat like boys. I heard Dave frying some eggs in the kitchen this morning, expecting him to come out with his usual weekend breakfast of eggs and toast. Instead, he emerged from the kitchen with the above plate. Clockwise from top: cinnamon raisin English muffin half topped [...]

Last night,  my 10 year high school reunion was held at the bar at La Bottega inside the Maritime Hotel. Dave and I had decided to meet for dinner beforehand, and I suggested we meet in the lobby of Chelsea Market, which is across the street from the Maritime. After surveying the options, we decided [...]

My mother and I had lunch today at Josephina. Surrounded by tables full of (significantly) older ladies, we had a delicious meal. Above is my jumbo lump crabmeat melt with brie, avocado and red onion with a side of mesclun greens in lemon-thyme dressing. As I write this, I am fantasizing about enjoying the second [...]

Last night, I had the privilege of attending a dinner at MoMA celebrating SELF Magazine‘s 2009 Women Doing Good. Among the three women chosen this year is my friend Erin Sprague who holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest woman to have run a marathon on all seven continents. In conjunction with her [...]
